NLFSC offers Spring and Fall ice sessions (out of regular season) for individual skaters. Ice times vary per session. Fees are determined per session and paid to NLFSC.
2019 Fall Ice is available to NLFSC skaters and coaches at the Icon Arena in Grand Forks. All skater and coaches must be current USFS members and fully compliant.
Total ice cost is split among the skaters using the ice. If you have interest in skating on this ice, you must contact Mallory Olson ASAP. No skater is allowed on the ice without payment or communication of participation with our coordinator.
3:30-4:30PM LOW ADVANCED
4:30-5:55PM HIGH ADVANCED
9:15-10:15PM HIGH ADVANCED
Private ice is split into Low and High sessions. Skaters working on Preliminary Moves in the Field (MIF) or below will be allowed to practice on all Low sessions. Skaters working on Pre-Juvenile MIF and above will be able to practice on all High sessions. However, if there are less than 15 skaters total on a session, skater at any level can practice on that ice.
Coaches are allowed to schedule lessons at any time during low and high, regardless of what level her skater will fall in. The splitting of high and low sessions is primarily for skaters practicing.
Our afternoon sessions were simply way too chaotic and becoming dangerous for skaters to practice with near 20-25 skaters, all different levels, on the ice at once!
As always, right of way goes as follows:
Private Lessons are given by an individual coach to a skater. The private ice season fee is paid to EGF Parks and Rec. This fee is in addition to the cost of each lesson paid to your private coach. If you choose to hire a private coach, they will assign a practice time for you each week to improve your Basic Skills, Moves-in-the-Field, Freestyle, and/or Dance levels. They can also keep you informed throughout the season and give you opportunities to compete individually or test over and beyond the Basic Skills program through U.S Figure Skating.
When choosing a private coach, make sure you ask for their credentials and references. Remember, they are considered independent business owners that run their own private lessons. Some things to consider when selecting a coach are personality, learning and teaching styles, experience and technical knowledge. Please see the "Hiring a Private Coach" document for further information.
Private coaches that are not hired by the city to coach other groups, must pay a fee to coach on our ice.
